Today's cards are from 2 very talented ladies that have greatly inspired my last few posts....
Nikki at Melonheadz is such a great artist and has quickly become a wonderful virtual friend of mine! I've posted on her before so you may recognize her name, but this time I asked her to draw a special pic for me. My oldest daughter enlisted in the Army Reserve so I asked Nikki to draw a soldier girl holding a flag. By the next morning, this adorable girl was in my IN Box!!
I used Stampin' Up markers to color my little soldier, and SU Blender Pens to create the camouflage. I don't have a distressing tool, but I've found that a sponge rubbed on an ink pad works just as well! The tag and sentiment are also from SU, and the patterned paper is from an old Paper Pizazz pack I had in my closet...
Unfortunately my daughter will be coming home early due to some minor medical issues, so I will be sending this card to another virtual friend's daughter instead!
My 2nd card is a Sliekje drawing. My 10 year old daughter wanted to help make cards and loves to draw, so I asked her to color some of my digi's....
Obviously purple is her favorite color, so I mounted her beautiful art onto different shades of purple cardstock and outlined it with ribbon. The tag was cut and written freehand...
I hope you enjoy your visit here! Please visit the blogs I listed and be sure to leave them comments! We all appreciate your feedback!!
Yeah, you used your girl soldier! Great job.
ReplyDeleteAww... she turned out SUPER cute! :) Glad your baby girl is on her way home.... please tell her I said Thank You! xox
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to your daughter! Adorable cards and such a cute digi!
ReplyDeleteYour cards turned out great, and your younger daughter colors very well! It must be because she likes purple :)
ReplyDeleteYou commented on my blog about hoping I don't mind if you copy an idea of mine. I try to explain how I do certain things to help anyone else learn the same things I learn, so please feel free to copy anything you see on my blog! I learned how to do that diamondplate technique from someone else, so that proves we can all learn from each other and create better cards for our deployed military. It's all good :)
Great cards - you must be so proud of both your girls! I found your your post on the OWH sidebar because I love both Melonheadz and Sliekje drawings as well.
ReplyDeleteQuestion about the ric rac on your second card - was it printed when you bought it, or did you stamp the pattern on it? I'm a newish cardmaker (and 98% digital), but have some old plain ric rac from sewing days, and find myself inspired. Any suggestions on how to do it with digital stamps? I've put flat fabric through the printer, but...
Great card! Thank you for popping over, glad you like this weeks freebie! Let me know if you make anything with it!!

Ginnie,
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is so creative. My mom's favorite color is purple too. It was very nice of you to let her color. Coloring sure is fun! I do it all the time for my mom.
